Quotes of the Day for 13 April 2004 - Thomas Jefferson

Thomas Jefferson was born at Shadwell, among the hills of Virginia, on this day in 1743. By far my favorite among the founding fathers, he is also one of my favorite authors of quotes. I could far more easily have chosen to send a hundred than to pare it down to this half dozen.

I have ever deemed it more honorable and more profitable, too, to set a good example than to follow a bad one.

I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just.

It is error alone which needs the support of government. Truth can stand by itself.
