Issues Index | Next => The weekend is here, and though I seem to have a lot of work to do I think you're supposed to party a bit. And I happen to have a request here from an avid square- and round-dancer that wanted quotes on Dance. I firmly believe in the Satchel Paige quote below; if I dance at all, I dance as if nobody's watching. Give the right music and sufficient decibels I'm energetic but rather uncoordinated, I only dance if I can convince myself that nobody's watching or that it's too dark for them to see me.
If I can't dance, I don't want to be part of your revolution. I don't want people who want to dance. I want people who have to dance. Let your life lightly dance on the edges of time like dew on the tip of a leaf. There are shortcuts to happiness, and dancing is one of them. And because I am happy and dance and sing, they think they have done me no injury. Work like you don't need the money. Love like you've never been hurt. Dance like nobody's watching.
