Bobby (Robert William) Unser, the race car driver, was born at Albuquerque, New Mexico on this day in 1934. And on this day in 1962, John Glenn became the first American to orbit the earth, traveling some 17,000 miles per hour in Friendship 7. Today's theme has to be Speed.
