Quotes of the Day for 16 February 2004 - Drunkenness

I received a subscriber request very early on Sunday morning for quotes on drunkenness and hangovers, because said reader was suffering the latter. At an earlier age I sometimes indulged to that point myself. There was a time when I had a problem with employees arriving on Mondays in that condition. I trust most of my subscribers have learned not to do that to themselves!

     - Antiphanes

You're not drunk if you can lie on the floor without holding on.
     - Dean Martin

     - Flemish Proverb

Drunkenness is nothing but voluntary madness.
     - Lucius Annaeus Seneca, c. 4 BC - AD 65

The problem with some people is that when they aren't drunk, they're sober.
     - William Butler Yeats, 1865 - 1939

A real hangover is nothing to try out family remedies on. The only cure for a real hangover is death.
     - Robert Benchley, 1889 - 1945
