I have something of a reputation as Scrooge. Partly because I have no sense of time and thus am always ill prepared, partly because this makes me crabby. The world was first introduced to Scrooge on this day in 1843. Dickens knew a bit about the desperate poverty in which the Crachit family lived, his own father had been sent to debtor's prison. His inspiration for writing A Christmas Carol? His wife was pregnant and he needed the money. Although I have gotten a few gifts from QOTD readers this season, I can relate.
