Issues Index | Next => Yesterday's first order of business, for reasons that are immaterial here, was to purchase a shirt. There wasn't much in the way of a theme for today shaping up, so on a whim I searched on "shirt" and surprised myself by having a few. It's not the most profound theme I could have come up with, but Shirt is what we're going with.

They'll clean it and put it on a hanger. Next morning buy it back for seventy-five cents. You start out giving your hat, then you give your coat, then your shirt, then your skin and finally your soul. The person who is waiting for something to turn up might start with their shirt sleeves. Many years ago, I concluded that a few hair shirts were part of the mental wardrobe of every man. The president differs from other men in that he has a more extensive wardrobe. I do not mean to suggest for a moment that all it takes to be a top executive is a custom-tailored European suit. You also need the correct shirt and tie.
