Issues Index | Next => One after another, three different themes for today fell through. Either the event turned out not to have happened on 10 October, or I didn't have a good set of quotes to support it. As I was about to head upstairs and have a drink, I decided to do my duty and publish anyway. The frustration itself becomes my theme.
I've come to believe that all my past failure and frustration were actually laying the foundation for the understandings that have created the new level of living I now enjoy. You must have long range goals to keep you from being frustrated by short range failures. We may not imagine how our lives could be more frustrating or complex - but Congress can. One of the sources of pride in being a human being is the ability to bear present frustrations in the interests of longer purposes. To live for results would be to sentence myself to continuous frustration. My only sure reward is in my actions and not from them. Laughter and tears are both responses to frustration and exhaustion. I myself prefer to laugh, since there is less cleaning up to do afterward.
