Gold was discovered in Bonanza Creek near Dawson, Canada on this day in 1896, setting off the Klondike Gold Rush. As with most such discoveries, great wealth was found. Not by miners, of course, but by those who supplied them. Like most such discoveries, it motivated a lot of folks to chase after a glittering dream.
