Issues Index | Next => I had a delightful meeting last evening with a pair of subscribers who read the ad below (in the day's e-mail version) and decided their website had been neglected for too long. I'll be updating one site, and creating a second, and I'll probably sneak in a plug for it here when it's ready. But the real point here, other than slyly hoping you will go read the ad yourself and consider having me help with your site, is that the meeting was so pleasant and productive, compared to all the meetings that seem to be mentioned in the quotes database.
Football is a mistake. It combines the two worst elements of American life. Violence and committee meetings. This morning I threw up at a board meeting. My telephone calls and meetings and decisions were now parts of a prescribed ritual aimed at making peace with the past; his calls, his meetings and his decisions were already the ones that would shape America's future. (On transfer of power to Gerald R. Ford.) A meeting is an occasion when people gather together, some to say what they do not think, and others not to say what they really do. I have left orders to be awakened at any time in case of national emergency, even if I'm in a cabinet meeting.
