But I need a break, and can't afford a vacation, so I'm off to the mountains to do a little art. This year I'll be trying my hand at cloisonné. It's not only completely different from what I do day to day, it's also completely different from anything I've done on retreat before. Expect quotes to resume next Tuesday. If you can't bear to be without, remember that you can always search the database on the website. In fact, I recently updated the collection on the web for your browsing pleasure.
Once in a while you have to take a break and visit yourself. One of the symptoms of an approaching nervous breakdown is the belief that one's work is terribly important. Men seek out retreats for themselves in the country, by the seaside, on the moutains... But all this is unphilosophical to the last degree... when thou canst at a moment's notice retire into thyself. The secret of success is making your vocation your vacation. Part of the happiness of life consists not in fighting battles but in avoiding them. A masterly retreat is in itself a victory. Retreat, hell! We're just advancing in another direction.
